The tiles will be downloaded starting from the first tile you selected and proceed in order of distance from it. Start the update and/or download clicking the "sync" icon. You can also deselect several tiles using Ctrl+left-click and dragging. If you accidentally selected a tile to many, deselect tiles using it Ctrl+left-click. To select more tiles press the Ctrl key while left-clicking or left-dragging over the wanted tiles. The scenery for download is available in 1x1 degree tiles. This only works if a tile has been synced, either with Terrasync or TerraMaster. To get some information about a downloaded tile, hold the mouse pointer over it.Ī pop-up box will show the name of that tile, if there are terrain and objects in it and what airports it contains. Get back to global view by clicking the "globe" icon. Pan around by dragging the map while pressing the right mouse button. Left-clicking will zoom you in on an area. Tiles that get no border after they have been synced don't contain terrain or objects and are usually located in open seas. The blue tiles that are being synced will change colour to green or amber/yellow as they are synced. Blue tiles are currently being synchronised.Red tiles are currently selected for synchronisation.(And are possibly unsyncable - see "Bug", below.) Amber/Yellow tiles has terrain but no objects.Green tiles have both terrain and objects. The tiles are colour coded to represent the state of the tiles: Opens a dialogue to select the location of the TerraSync scenery directory. Shows all airports in the first selected tile of the currently selected tiles. Opens a dialog to help selecting a route. Shows the name of the tile that was last selected. For more detailed directions, see the section Using below. The icons will be grayed out when they can not be used. The top row contains a status field, two groups of icon buttons, a search field and a sync progress bar. All the airports within a tile can be shown, and airports can be searched for and be shown. The map can be zoomed and one or more 1x1 degree tiles can be selected before they are synced or deleted. If you don't use TerraSync, just make sure your TerraMaster download folder is declared as a scenery directory in your launcher. When TerraMaster starts it will show a map of the Earth. In the latter case, the setting should be saved when you quit FG. Disabling TerraSync can be done in your launcher certainly, by passing -disable-terrasync to fgfs, or in-sim from the File dialog ("Scenery download" IIRC). If your TerraMaster download folder is elsewhere, TerraSync should not touch it. TerraSync should not write to any random folder. I have never used TerraMaster personally, but in your situation I think I would disable TerraSync to be sure a) not to waste bandwidth downloading stuff I already have and b) not to step on TerraMaster's toes. But then I don't think it is a good idea to let TerraSync muck with the directory that TerraMaster has updated. If you use TerraMaster, i think you are getting v2 scenery, which is good for you unless you are short on memory. There is old (v1) and "new" (v2) scenery, but I have never heard it called SD or HD. I have no idea where you heard about SD and HD scenery. Thanks in advance for any assistance rendered. I'd like to use the HD scenery but with TerraSync as soon as I fly out of a subtile everything grinds to a halt whilst it downloads the next section. slow broadband) user?Ĭan I put the HD terrain files in to the TerraSync folder so it doesn't need to download those parts? What is the optimum configuration for the bandwidth challenged (i.e. I've downloaded the same SD tile and it has the Objects that TerraSync has downloaded plus the low-res Terrain files. I notice that the downloaded HD scenery does not have the Objects & Terrain folders - it only appears to have the terrain. TerraSync downloads the subtiles on launch so I'm assuming it overrides my Scenery folder. On the launch app I've told it where my scenery folder is. I've ungzipped it and put it in a folder next to FlightGear called Scenery. Overnight I downloaded the HD tile for w010n50 which covers most of the UK. I live in a rural location so download speeds are slow. Trying to figure out the order of use by the various scenery components. Hi, new user on iMac i7, 24Gb, terabyte of storage, new download of 2016.1.1.
